I may be the person whoβs most excited for Channel Memberships Hereβs whyπ Iβve long argued that the current iteration of channels feels more like topic tags than Communities. You choose a topic when casting and then your cast goes to people interested in that topic. Community is different. Community is a group of people organized around common goals. Layer on onchain and itβs: common goals + collective ownership! A big part of our vision is that every channel member is a member-owner with skin in the game. When you come to a channel community in a couple weeks youβll be prompted to buy a membership via Fan Tokens β which gives you access to the channel, partial ownership of it, AND shared participation in all rewards earned by the channel. This is the way.

Bro I'm not buying channel tokens to cast in a channel.

All channels will require membership once the new version launches in early October

or create more of a no channel casting meta? I can see your point, thought I also like the current scope where I can cast across multiple channels without deep connection. communities take work, often a function of time. and thereby are somewhat limiting in the number of communities one can participate actively in. I'm still up for the changes, and look forward to how they continue to shape the energy here, wouldn't be here if I wasn't interested in experimentation.

think of the community that youβve been part of and how it spawned do you think this (what is talked about on this thread) helps create more or less of them?

initially I would think less of them, though their development might evolve... some spur of the momemt esque channels might become too much trouble, thinking /toe-spacer etc

agreed in a sense the flare up of random channels will likely pass. could see this leading more to subreddit style communities over time, question in part right now for me, is there the conversational liquidity to fully develop, and how do the changes scale over time - maybe for the best as it cuts down on spam significantly
