I may be the person who’s most excited for Channel Memberships Here’s why👇 I’ve long argued that the current iteration of channels feels more like topic tags than Communities. You choose a topic when casting and then your cast goes to people interested in that topic. Community is different. Community is a group of people organized around common goals. Layer on onchain and it’s: common goals + collective ownership! A big part of our vision is that every channel member is a member-owner with skin in the game. When you come to a channel community in a couple weeks you’ll be prompted to buy a membership via Fan Tokens — which gives you access to the channel, partial ownership of it, AND shared participation in all rewards earned by the channel. This is the way.

but the channel owner will have to decide what the membership requirement is right? One fan token for the channel isn’t a guaranteed membership is it?

Love the idea of channels evolving into true communities with shared ownership through Fan Tokens. One thought though: what about a cap or mechanism like token splits similar to stock splits? If the price of a channel token skyrockets with larger adoption and bigger communities, it might become a barrier for new members. A token split could keep ownership accessible to everyone while still rewarding current holders, ensuring new owners can join without being priced out.

Oh, I am so very excited about it! I haven't launched Fan Tokens for my channels, yet, but I will be. I'm really geeked about the upcoming changes. Building community is my jam, and this is going to make it *so* much easier. Also continues to pave the way for making channels decentralized as well, so we can have clients that focus on channels - I can imagine a Reddit-style channel client being developed!

I think a lot of people are just afraid of the change. But eventually it will be better and create closer communities instead of just shouting in a channel. So basically exactly what you say haha

I love your idea 💡 It’s just like buying a share of a company whereby owner of the share would get some percentage off the profits! So the Ft would be used in getting partial ownership of the channel But what happens when too many people has partial ownership of a channel . ?
