I love this prompt - I've met so many crypto people who had really early + formative experiences on the internet My answer is RuneScape. I played RS from age 7-11 and that was the first time I made friends online who didn't share my same geography. It gave me a bigger imagination and bigger sense of the world.

Yeah I agree - what I meant when I said “come in” is someone actually starting to be part of the industry in an intentional way The dopamine hook is often money for sure, the decision to plant a flag is usually more than that though, and it’s tiring hearing people shill the nihilism thesis again and again that all this has ever been is about gambling and making a bag (which I disagree with)

I don’t think people just come into crypto to make money Sure, everyone wants to make a bag, but they want to do that while also being part of systems change in areas that matter to them The nihilists are a loud minority, but aren’t accurate representatives of the industry imo

people in tech talk a lot about this idea of "ephemeral apps" ie. products, games, experiences that are short lived I like the idea of adapting that into writing an "ephemeral" memoir like, instead of boring & drawn out chapters, think ~40 memories or moments that tell your life story but in little 500 word blips
