Freaky indeed, given its relevance today. David Foster Wallace was getting at something similar with Infinite Jest…a world in which people are literally entertained to death. I try to bear this in mind and heart when I notice myself getting into seasons of life wherein my content consumption  is grossly disproportionate to my creative output, generative activity, critical thinking, etc.
