a strange thing is happening… Farcaster is growing again. And it’s because of the third party dev projects, like aethernet, clanker and anon, not Warpcast’s feature development over the last months. Open + composable social primitives where every account has a wallet is what makes Farcaster special and different to X and alternatives. Perhaps it’s time to admit that “Only Warpcast can grow DAUs, so let’s deprioritize enabling third party devs to build things, in the name of Warpcast’s scarce resources towards growing DAUs” was a mistake and lock in?

There is a paradox with devs here. Most of them are relatively young, which means they have not had the experience of being rugged by a service that started with the best intentions and then changed course or got acquired. They have not built or Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Google APIs that got discontinued. They did not spend nights building an integration with Friendfeed. They don't remember a time when Google Reader was the center of their online life. They did not spend time and money to integrate Google+ in their sites. Or delicious, or Flickr. They didn't buy music on Yahoo Music and probably never heard of Yahoo 360. Which makes it harder for them to truly appreciate in full the value of a decentralized social network/platform.

Things are pretty linearly derived from the past until they aren’t, open your eyes to what’s happening right now in web3 gaming, TikTok meme coins etc The “anti crypto” thing was a point in time problem and over indexing on it is a mistake Besides, I’m not saying YOU have to lose focus, I’m saying the ecosystem can move more geometrically in all directions now
