A more practical view is that if you think that your situation is bad and you have reached the end of the line, know that there are people who have really reached the end of the line and have not lost their hope.

The odd thing is they 'could' use one of the other country spacecraft to make the return journey, they just don't want to explore that step at the moment

This would be horrifying. Imagine floating in orbit, you can SEE home, you're acutely aware of exactly how far away it is, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. Someone needs to go to jail for this.

Can you imagine being stuck in a glitching pod surrounded by an environment that is doing everything it can to kill you? Respekt for these men and women that can work through something like this under those conditions.
