For sure! And yeah I try to assume every question is asked earnestly unless I have some specific reason to believe otherwise so appreciate the questions. I agree, I think it's part that and part showmanship which Trump/Elon are pretty good at.

To expand my thoughts further, finding efficiency in *discretionary spending* (which is only ~1/3 of the annual budget), is a complicated task that requires intimate knowledge of government functions and agencies. Do I think DOGE can achieve some savings? Sure, but likely in a much less efficient manner than could be achieved by spending resources improving and empowering the GAO and it's members who will have the expertise needed to actually find the savings opportunities.

Yes, and I think it will be seen to be more effective than anything DOGE is able to accomplish in the coming 4 years. "Congress and agencies have made significant progress in addressing many of the 2,018 matters and recommendations that we identified from 2011 to 2024. These efforts have resulted in approximately $667.5 billion in financial benefits, an increase of approximately $71 billion since our 2023 report." https://www.gao.gov/duplication-cost-savings

Trump is so good at reducing government bloat he has to create two brand new departments (DOGE and now this) to do things that have already been done through existing government functions/agencies.

If I was Newsom, when stunts around federal aid are being pulled by Republicans, I'd start working on some crafty proposals to start shorting the federal govt and return those funds to the people of CA. Let the (failing) red states figure out how to balance their budgets.

California is the most cucked state in the nation. Pays the most (almost top per capita) into the federal budget, has the highest GDP (almost double #2) of any state, and yet has almost the lowest per capita representation in the electoral college, and the lowest in the Senate.

It's wild because California revenue/taxes are disproportionately used to bail out smaller (failing) red states who must *always* receive unconditional aid, but as soon as Cali needs some of that $ back, it must be 'conditional' and it's 'based fiscal conservatism' time. Total asymmetry

Doesn't seem like an existential threat based on how far in the future it is and how many solutions/theories exist now and potential solutions could be developed in the mean time. I barely even hold any BTC myself, my qualms with Mr. Dimon are on his understanding of 'intrinsic value'

I'd be curious to hear Jamie Dimon defend the 'intrinsic value' of gold, among many other things I'm sure he's invested in. What a crazy thing to say for the CEO of one of the world's largest banks, bro needs to take a philosophy class or two. https://x.com/WatcherGuru/status/1878818474669342827
