I discovered some context on @jack Jack Butcher's Open Edition piece on Zora. Buckle up. It's a masterpiece. 🧵 1/n

Unrelated but it just blew my mind this was just over a month ago and now there's added lore to the origin story via the guardian investigation & Jack's piece. am curious and happy to be shouted down for asking an irrelevant question: did jack and cadmonkey make their artistic responses independently, or is one clearly a derivative of the other?

The cadmonkey piece is older by over a month, so clearly not a derivative of Jack's piece. Jack's piece specifically refers to the issue that Hirst seems to have faked the creation date of some of his works. This only became known after cadmonkey's piece. So no derivative relationship here either IMO.

I think it’s a good question. If Cadmonkey did inspire Jack in any way I think it’s an awesome thing & it’s also the power of spreading memes & ideas through the use of CC0. Cadmonkeys 6529 meme card is CC0. We can’t be totally sure the origin of the idea but in CC0, remixing & deriving is welcome. 💙
