I discovered some context on @jack Jack Butcher's Open Edition piece on Zora. Buckle up. It's a masterpiece. 𧡠1/n

Unrelated but it just blew my mind this was just over a month ago and now there's added lore to the origin story via the guardian investigation & Jack's piece. am curious and happy to be shouted down for asking an irrelevant question: did jack and cadmonkey make their artistic responses independently, or is one clearly a derivative of the other?

The cadmonkey piece is older by over a month, so clearly not a derivative of Jack's piece. Jack's piece specifically refers to the issue that Hirst seems to have faked the creation date of some of his works. This only became known after cadmonkey's piece. So no derivative relationship here either IMO.

Both pieces of course refer to the Hist works and are in some sense derivative of those.

Cadmonkeys card is CC0 6529 meme card. If Jack was inspired even remotely by it then it would be welcome with open arms. CC0 can be the glue that hold us together at times & create fun ways to bounce ideas. Just look at how many people are having fun & recreating the famed Mutatio Fly π
