One advantage of SIWF over SIWE is that you don’t need to have 3+ different buttons / flows corresponding to different wallet providers Just scan a QR code, and you're authenticated I hope that as SIWF extends to other clients, the simplicity of having a single interface is maintained

this is one reason we updated to short channel codes. if web clients want to log in users, users can enter the 8 character code, like a magic link login. the best UX is for every app to build in a QR scanner (even Warpcast is not here yet). next best is to use a magic link style modal for web logins.

fwiw i've had a terrible experience with siwe it's way too complicated and requires a fairly complicated logic for managing any sort of user state, especially if you need to issue a jwt it feels like a huge bottleneck to actually creating useful apps that you need two steps at a minimum (connect, sign)

Yep authkit and the relay etc could all be run by other clients though currently to do it they need to provide a signature from the custody address which is why no one outside Warpcast bothers right now (no other client has enough active users where they control the custody address or the custody address isn’t Warpcast )

FYI SIWF under the hood is literally just SIWE only difference is that at the end of the signed message, it also contains the FID as a resource, so SIWF/SIWW is built on top of SIWE. Plus SIWE always works on a desktop which is much faster than scanning a QR, it will take less than 2s, and just getting hold of the phone takes longer than that. Sure you can do SIWF/SIWW with my wallet in under 2s as it also has a built-in QR scanner, in general, desktop wallets are far superior to mobile ones. In fact, I know many people who don't even want to use a mobile wallet at all.
