That you have to believe in it for it to work.  I don't even actually "believe" in it per se, I just started playing with it and seeing what happened, made up a deity to see what happened, and then thing got weird.  Magic is a lot of "act as if" and when you do that enough, the Universe starts to believe you.

Unironically, this is also how startups work
