Famous peopleā€™s tweets being cross-posted here is a net negative Itā€™s more talking head content thatā€™s disconnected from the local meta and given they donā€™t reply, thereā€™s no discourse either If you use the lens of disruption theory, weā€™re downmarket of X and we need ā€œlocalā€ features, not shallow thinkboi transplantation

That is a negative but is it net people who like FC but have invested years building an audience have a path to cut over without starting from scratch some % will start engaging here as well imo depending on what that % is dictates if itā€™s worth the negative cost you called out

plus the benefit to FC users who can see some potentially interesting content without having to leave FC I donā€™t have time to check twitter but there are accounts I really liked that I wish were on FC Iā€™d begrudgingly take them deciding to cross post if it means I see there stuff today and there is a greater likelihood they engage more tomorrow

Responding to both points: 1) I think the power users of other platforms will move here once the organic discussion here captures their attention. If you try and short circuit that by programmatically casting, the discussion loses context (see Markā€™s cast) and has the double whammy of the power user not engaging here 2) I think it is advantageous that people use Twitter to catch up on talking heads broadcast, as that same impersonal (and sometimes toxic) vibe is what makes Farcaster so compelling. I can come here to take a break from X. But if you start injecting irrelevant X context here, it pollutes the content my friends are putting out. You canā€™t ā€œcross the chasmā€ this way as it alienates your core users now ā€” rather, Iā€™d accept being downmarket and empower these folks according to their unique needs. You donā€™t beat the incumbents by copying them https://warpcast.com/markfishman/0xcee356ff

while I agree this is not One Simple Trick to Win also think not doing it might be midcurve and helping accounts cross post to get interesting content is not a short term useful strategy not convinced either way fwiw just am more willing to watch it play out
