I have sometimes found myself upside-down in my investments in people, but art, at least, can be sold when it becomes tiresome—unlike your boyfriend; no, not mine. No work of art has ever given a lady gray hair, all I’m saying.
This guy asked me, trying to be clever, “Where’s your boyfriend?”
I say, “At home.”
“What’s his name?” The guy presses on…
“Art,” I tell him.
“What’s he doing at home? Why’s he not here with you?”
“Well, if I didn’t have Art at home, who will hold up the walls?”
