Deboarding the airplane is always a shitty experience — it’s like this iterative / sequential game of prisoners’ dilemma where if I don’t rush to stand up and exit my row, the person adjacent or behind me boxes me out Like I know we’re all tired of smelling fart air for hours, but chill. I’ve seen this behavior most pronounced in places where border control would take forever. Losing your spot in the deplaning queue could mean another 10 minutes standing at immigration shortly after. I saw people stand up and grab their bags while the aircraft was still taxiing to the gate — and in typical Moloch fashion, if you don’t join them, you’ll lose even harder

I used to think that standing up in unison as soon as landing gears touch the ground was a desi phenomenon but was relieved to find out "the western civilization" is not immune to it.

I feel like it’s fine in the US, people are pretty respectful and don’t rush for the exit. Try public transports in France, especially Paris… There are always a handful of people rushing for the exit.
