Verification post. FYI Jake got pulled into a last minute meeting and might be a bit delayed in getting back on the initial wave of questions but will be responding back when he's done in a few https://warpcast.com/alec.eth/0xa06db82e

Hello hello friends! I've been recruiting for the last ~7 years or so with a range of web2 and web3 teams, and hired everything from interns to executives. I love helping teams build strong cultures + helping individuals progress in their careers.

How do teams like Paradigm who have quite a few OSS projects (foundry, reth) think of other core contributors? Do they just straight hire them or compensate them in some way?

when looking at existing teams. What do you look at to identify where to go in recruiting and whether a potential recruit then is a good fit for that specific team?

@jakerr.eth looks like you’ve got quite the resume yourself. I’m eager to know what you look for. Do you hire outside of your immediate network? I feel like there’s a lot of friend hiring regardless of past skill set in web3, how does someone without the network get a fair shot coming into the space?

@jakerr.eth — are there consistent biases or negative patterns you notice teams make in hiring decisions? for example when people want a good “culture fit” how do you guard against ppl looking to hire others who resemble themselves in background, culture, etc?

How do I start from 0 to working in a proper Web3 company? And how does the experience I’ve gotten working with projects (that aren’t full on companies) do for people like me?
