sent some usdc to coinbase to swap for a non evm token and was immediately hit with this... i get that CEXs must play by the rules, but this isn't the open future of finance i'm hoping for

Same on Kraken... and same feeling! I understand they have no way around this, they need to play by the rules as you say. But this is not what I signed up for... Hopefully, Europe (and the world) will get rid of those "way too intrusive" regulations at some point.

I think it has to do with the new EU rules. But I find it quite odd to ask about the sender. If you declare and pay the taxes later should be enough, no?

Travel Rule is here to stay. It will lead small exchanges to ruin, specially those on EU countries as it is almost impossible to be compliance for any start or scale-up.
