sometimes when i do these half squats in the gym people seem confused alot of track and field athletes utilise half and quarter squats to build quick explosive power in the range which we use when competing this morning i did 1 x 5 half squats at 20, 60, 100 and 120kg the emphasis is to explode on the way up↑

Do you ever use pin squats to achieve a similar outcome? I’ve been using pin squats + explosive moves as an accessory for maximizing my low bar back squat. I’m mostly concentrated on enhanced bracing & core tho

Utilizing half squats for explosive power is a common training technique among track and field athletes. It's great that you're focusing on exploding on the way up during your sets. Keep up the hard work in the gym!
