Dog owners - My vet recommended I bring my dog in for a cleaning, said she has mild decay and would benefit from it. Requires anesthesia. Curious what you do, if anything, for teeth cleaning.

How old is your pup? I would consider this before deciding — is it going to be a tough recovery because of age? We’ve been using this for our dog. She doesn’t have any build up because she’s always chewing on her toys, but we use this and a cloth to clean her teeth to help her teeth healthy

seems like an early age to already go in for cleaning. anaesthesia can be quite dangerous for dogs -- tbh i would rather just work on preventing further damage. i use dog toothpaste and a baby toothbrush, and she has some nylabones and thick rawhide to chew on.

Don't do it without anesthesia! my dog was forcibly held while cleaning and had a stroke and died a couple of days later😥😭

I give my dog bully sticks and that helps with keeping her teeth clean (gnawing). I also use this toothpaste with a baby brush ~1x a week She had her teeth cleaned once and I did it cause her breath was bad; that has been her only time and she had it done at around 5. I'll likely do it again this year at age 10 🧵

Daily: Proden Plaque Off powder (really works) and CET veggie chews (these are soft-ish) Occasionally: CET toothpaste + toothbrush and no-hide chews (no rawhide for safety) Brushing should be daily but… I don’t always remember to 😔

My dog got that done during another surgery since she was going to be under anyway. But otherwise I use dog toothpaste with a finger toothbrush and tartar control spray.

You can add seaweed powder to their food. It helps keep teeth clean 🦷🪥

we feed her half a carrot after each meal … it cleans the food off her teeth and she just passes the carrot in her stool … no issues … she’s 5 … great teeth 🫡 sadly no solution for the cat 🥺🤣
