or they just sucked at implementing socialism, besides the fact that it's a country that has been under the severest sanctions and constant coup attempts orchestrated by the most powerful country in the world

I dunno, Chavez did it pretty well overall. I actually visited the country, and he implemented great communal practices and upskill initiatives in poor neighborhoods. Despite assassination & coup attempts, despite US-funded paramilitia, they were still doing OKish until he was gone. Maduro had the same challenges but he played into US's hands a lot with his authoritarian practices IMHO.

You could say we were doing okay, but things were never truly good. The problem is when things go bad year after year, it eventually creates a snowball effect. Maduro accelerated the decline, but it all started during Ch谩vez's presidency.

im sure there have been lots of things that were done wrong by the government, but often it's more about the people in power that execute than the proclaimed political and socioeconomic system that was supposed to be followed. but your cast clearly suggests that it's the socialism ideology that did the wrong, which is a false claim without discussing who are in power and external factors such ad U.S. sanctions that are designed to crumble Venezuela and the wellbeing of venezuelans, regardless of what system you have as long as you refuse to be his pseudo state

Correct is the people in power, but they claim to be socialist, they're the ones putting a bad reputation on socialism. They don't follow what they claim to be, instead they are closer to be a kleptocracy due to widespread corruption and abuse of power.
