or they just sucked at implementing socialism, besides the fact that it's a country that has been under the severest sanctions and constant coup attempts orchestrated by the most powerful country in the world

I dunno, Chavez did it pretty well overall. I actually visited the country, and he implemented great communal practices and upskill initiatives in poor neighborhoods. Despite assassination & coup attempts, despite US-funded paramilitia, they were still doing OKish until he was gone. Maduro had the same challenges but he played into US's hands a lot with his authoritarian practices IMHO.

You could say we were doing okay, but things were never truly good. The problem is when things go bad year after year, it eventually creates a snowball effect. Maduro accelerated the decline, but it all started during Ch谩vez's presidency.

i've never been to venezuela, so can't comment on that my og cast was more about challenging the belief that the socioeconomic circumstances of a country can all just be attributed to the political system it's under
