Pullups are the answer. Assisted pullups, normal pullups, and then weighted pullups!

in January I focused more on my back with these exercises added as focus for the week: bent over bb row weighted good mornings seated machine row chest supported db row TRX bw row I noticed a increase in strength and they helped my row/ski machine exercises in the endurance aspect [not faster, just able to go longer]

imagine that in every pulling motion, you are pulling through your elbows, not through your hands. Also, warm up with 2-3 sets of rope back pushdowns, this should warm up your back muscles and help you feel them in your compound lifts.

Are you keeping proper form, squeezing on contraction and going slow on the eccentric into a full stretch?

Go slow and steady with a lower weight first to get the feel and technique down pat.
