To me “memecoins” only derive their value from the attention they can hold and the crypto community has the attention span of a squirrel which is why memecoins are increasingly a flash in the pan

They’re the wrong tool for most committed projects and communities to use which is why we’ve even seen ones that have real products like $VINE and $JELLYJELLY decline in price — people are trading attention, not investing in value

Tokens, on the other hand, are a core primitive of blockchains (including both Ethereum and Solana) and I’m excited for continued experimentation on how to align holders with the projects that they represent

The whole “collect” thing was tried last cycle with NFTs and I don’t think changing the form factor to ERC20s really makes it much better (actually worse imo, wrong tool for the job)

If anything we should be working on changing the mindset from trade → invest, which is distinct and different from the buy → collect framing

“positive sum” is kinda going the way of “public goods” towards being a meaningful statement literally, but a meaningless statement in practice

It would be neat to be able to track referrers for both channel and user follows, opens up a lot of surface area for rewards

Imagine you cast in a channel → cast picks up some traction → people follow channel based on cast → OP gets rewarded by channel

Could do the same for account follows
