I'm pretty happy just liking my friends' photos, don't really have any desire to mint them, would venture to say that most people feel the same way

i guess for someone to feel compelled to mint a photo/artwork, they need at least one of three drives:

1. possibility of financial upside
2. provide support to artist 
3. collect some cool art/photo they like given it's 'near free'

can't see instagram-like minted images by ordinary users to possess much of these. 

I do see 1. on big users/artists and 2. for artists in general that have a community around them. Currently there are other products more suited to serve them out there. 

3. is incognito to me, might be the only solid case. 
A 0.0001 eth price point ($0.36 rn) is considerably cheaper than Zora's "free mint" (~U$2.3) and isn't a big financial barrier, maybe UX (pressing buttons to mint) is a bigger barrier. I'd love to see it getting traction based on this point but don't know how much of a 'collector' culture there's around the FC ecosystem. We shall see.

Liking and collecting are two different things, and they can coexist. Minting can be a way to show support to your friends while also adding a great piece to your gallery. Of course, that’s not for everyone; some people just want to like pictures and nothing more, and that’s valid as well 😁
