2yo's daycare just announced they're closing from next March after 33 years.

I'm so sad. What a special place.

It's like Montessori. but they build and explore outside or inside as they like, eat super fresh meals, and all the kids clean the facilities every day Japanese-style.

Really, really going to miss it.

finances, labor shortage, child shortage

japan needs to figure something out cause all the daycares are full and can't find enough teachers, but they also can't get enough kids

the daycare is small and imo idyllic. the head teacher is retirement age and her daughters are the other two teachers.

 once it's done, it'll be done

That’s so tough when your kids aren’t ready to move on. Happened to me with my second son, we followed his favourite teacher to her next job but it was never the same.

biggest (imo) one is labor shortage. One teacher wants to leave and they can't find a replacement.

but they're also in debt and even now, the main teacher isn't taking a salary

will check out the regio emilio method. hadn't heard of it!

Oh no! Sorry to hear that! Not ideal at all. How many years of nursery do you have left? Any alternative in your area?
