Request for parents and children alike... What mantras, slogans, or common phrases do you have for yourself as a parent? If you don't have children yet, do you remember any your parents had? 100 $DEGEN tip to up to ten of my favorites. If we get a good turnout, I'd love to compile these. @bountybot

My favorite? "Space and grace" I want things to run well, am trying to parent with my wife and in-laws, and my son can be quite difficult at times. Definitely find myself uttering this mantra several times a day.

Instead of telling your kid to “be safe” tell them “pay attention” this creates special awareness vs a fear based mindset. Also saying “thank you for listening” when they listen to you. This reaffirms the concept and reinforces good behavior.

Do you need "empathy" or a "solution"? Mainly for co-parenting but helpful framework to consider as a parent interacting w a child Know when they need one or both. It's too easy to default to solutions when they might not be looking for it

Oh I have a LOT! 42ily is the the most common. My girls, 10 & 9, know 42 is my favorite number and it serves as a reminder for me to find something that brings me love and hope — so when I see/think/hear 42 I say “42 I love YOU” “Puff up your chest, take a deep breath, you’re gonna be ok” this is a song “Keep up the weird!” I have way more, but I sing a lot to my girls and partner and fur babies —so most are like “slow down you’re doing fine” or “hit the road jack”

every night we talk about what we're grateful for and what we wish for almost every night I tell her: You're safe. You're loved. You're surrounded by family, friends, and community who support you. You live in a world of abundance where you can do anything you put your mind to.

"Happens sometimes" we say w/e there's a mistake or accident (on anyone's part in the family). I still struggle with beating myself up a lot over mistakes, and I don't want to pass it down. Mistakes just happen sometimes, it's nobody's fault, nobody did anything wrong, etc

Breathe in, breathe out, count to 10.... This has been my mantra ever since I had my son It helps me keep my temper in check and stops me from acting out of anger. Rather, I discipline to correct the bad behavior.

Another one I remember my dad always saying when we would leave the house or get out of the car is "make good choices". So simple but I think about it a lot Also when we would go places he would always say "we are going to leave this place in the same condition or better than we found it"

This is actually something @chasesommer.eth and were talking about yesterday. I said I'd like to introduce asking "is it kind or is it helpful?" When deciding whether or not to say something. Similar to think before you speak.

"it's all just a phase" as a parent this quick reminder helps you through the tough bits, remind you that it'll soon be better – or at least a new challenge!
