I think its a UX problem generally. We need to put in more effort to make these products easy to use for the lay man. If it looking scifi and futuristic affects the usability in any way then we do away with that. If it doesnt affect the UX its a nice to have defs.

how about a cozy retro vibe instead of sci-fi? Less 'Blade Runner,' more 'Throwback Thursday.
