It feels like Farcaster is starting to lean left in ways I personally don't really love.

Some of it is low quality election-related posting. Another part is this “crypto is actually leftist” vibe (libertarian socialism, anarchism, DAOs as governance, etc.). I have 0 problem with people who believe in those things organizing on here. But if that becomes the dominant ethos of Farcaster, it will alienate me and, I suspect, many others.

1. I lean leftist and I suspect we have more in common than is immediately obvious (personally I feel there is a lot of overlap/compatibility/synergy between seemingly-conflicting ideologies if only we abandon labels for a second), happy to explore that more if you're into it. :) 2. FWIW I feel that Farcaster as a whole is moderately anti-leftist. I'd say the majority of people are terrified of leftist labels and aren't willing to even entertain their underlying concepts independently. (See screenshot) 3. I am curious to hear more about what makes you feel alienated, though?

Well the reverse would alienate us (see crypto twitter). So there we have it. We gotta learn to live together

It’s possible people are talking about that stuff more here because they’re alienated on other platforms like X

If a little tension and slight lean is alienating to you, imagine how people feel who stay away from twitter for the same reason. For what it's worth I highly doubt that leftist views will ever be dominant here due specifically to Dan and other prominent voices being highly conservative leaning. So you're still pretty safe here...

To be fair Twitter was a normal place for years and then suddenly it’s reactionary, bro man ethos, and some weird amalgamation of elon/Rogan fever dream mashup. It got very right and very fast. So FC being “left” probably means it’s barely center.

I could be wrong but I think a lot of leftists are moving here because Twitter is increasingly pro-right. Honestly blame Elon for this one 😭

I'd like to double-click on that alienation piece.. Do you think leftist folks haven't been feeling alienated in crypto this whole time? The dominant ethos in crypto overall has been right-leaning for a long time. I'd invite you to join us in embracing social differences and solving this problem of alienation together. It's okay to coexist with other who share differing beliefs. Your feeling of a political shift is proof that we've had to do so for a looong time, and we're still here. You can do the same. No reason to leave.
