I want Farcaster to succeed as I think it is truly important for humanity to have a "global town square" based on a neutral protocol rather than a platform owned by a single company, or worse, a single person. Still, I keep switching my default behavior to post on Twitter, simply because I get ~10x more resonance on Tweets. I assume (at least in the crypto-Twitter world) I am not the only one in this situation. So maybe some form of vampire attack could work. Try to get at least 1,000 people from CT with >1,000 followers to commit x$ to post exclusively on Farcaster for 1 month. As soon as the 1,000 people are reached, the agreement kicks in and everyone should only post here. Those who break the agreement get "slashed," and the slashed money is distributed among those actually following through. WDYT?

Even if you manage to convince all of CT to switch, at best you have a fragment of Twitter. People still want to read about the election and other stuff and will just go back over time. Network effects are really strong. If you look at social networks there are really two paths to success: 1. Be early on a new technology wave that leads to media production (e.g. TikTok and mobile video) 2. Create a new social primitive that brings people together in a fundamentally unique way (snapchat and ephemeral content)

One of the reasons TikTok took off was because it rewarded creators. Wether with $$$$ or by gaining followers that led to $$$$. Their AI also does a great job at optimizing for programmatic Ad spend. Channels are cool, but why would I stop posting on Reddit and switch to WC? Let's stop beating around the bush, you need to incentivise creators to do work here.

bad take tiktok didn’t introduce creator fund until 2020 after the pandemic when app downloads had already skyrocketed and there was clear product market fit
