Agree at the macro but disagree at the micro. Built On Ethereum audience isn't users, it's investors and other builders to counter the narrative that nothing good is launching on Ethereum. But yeah ultimately we will win by building the best apps.

The only real counter is a breakout eth app tho. Everything else is a distraction imo

Maybe but idk, if the perception is nothing good is built on Ethereum, and I'm a new builder trying to decide where I'm building, just seems like a reflexive failure mode tbh. Base is the best counter. Base championing apps built on Base pulls more eyeballs at Base as an ecosystem to build on. Counter-counter to that is "nah, it's their liquidity bro" which is probs true for a certain kind of app.

Prediction: no one will care about the breakout app either unless it shoves Ethereum directly in people's faces (gambling, token speculation, etc). If @orbiterhost gets a million sites on it, that'd be a breakout, but it doesn't matter (granted Orbiter is on Base so not directly Ethereum). All this to say, I agree with Zach in that in that the built on Ethereum meta is for the builders not the users and it doesn't feel like a distraction at all.

Breakout and Ξ dont match though. Embrace L2 or die. Public ain’t paying mainnet prices. Make Ξ cheap. And have value accrue to apps is the only way.
