trying out deep research ($200 plan) for a month. anyone have good guides, tips, etc. to make the most out of it? Trying to force myself to use it as much as possible to see how much of a multiplier i get for research/writing

generally speaking, for higher quality insightful output, using other smaller models to prime a good prompt for it is a way to utilize fully. For ex: 1. o3 mini: raw ideas -> semi structured prompt 2. o1: Take the above prompt and refine into a research plan outline + questions/subquestions you want answered 3. Deep Research: Feed the above into deep research for final result

was watching a video that said it performs significantly better at tasks that would take a human 10+ hours, rather than 4-6 hours. So, perhaps try to think of the most complicated tasks possible, rather than ones that would only marginally save time

be clear about what you want to learn about and the purpose this knowledge will serve. the power is in connecting the dots, so it's helpful to explain how you're trying to apply the learnings. do you already have a thesis? put that in and say you're trying to prove/disprove

yes try to one shot the majority of research rather than repetively researching in the same window. if you want to include past results i use 4o summaries in the prompt as additional context
