A new logo and brand identity for Sandisk by ELA Advertising in New York. What are your thoughts on this? We don’t store data in spinning disks anymore. I guess the clever half moon D had to go. I do mourn the nice serif font logos as they go, though. Anyway, the new logo looks like a printed circuit board. So it works at a technical level.

The forms of the cropped S and rotated A are an interesting beginning, however the N and D lack the same form language. The N isn’t wide enough and lacks the same angles. And the D lacks any serifs (serifs which likely only exist to aid the legibility of the cropped S). It is a worthy update but I would have asked the design team to keep pushing those characters!

surprising move, it seems like most brands are going to a homogenous, basic sans-serif nowadays. i like it

The uniformity is great and the negative space on the bottom of the letters actually pulls the whole thing together better. The old serif logo looks Trapped in time in the 2000’s. This looks like something from several decades. Good update.

A great update imo, great spacing and style. My only question is about the N though, maybe making it a bit wider?

I dig it overall but the cropped style of the letters makes the N stand out a ton to me. Feels small and too narrow compared to the other glyphs. Anyone else getting that?

I think this is actually good. Looking forward to seeing if it's put to good use. Feels like they could compete with Anker with that impression.
