1.) Noted, but don’t you feel that on a longer time horizon, as hardware requirements lower on Solana (with firedancer, for example) and more validators are added, this will reach parity? 
2.) Both ETH and SOL can be used as money in this way, as I see it.
3.) On what level are you referring to open source? Base is built on open source OP stack, but Base in itself is not open sourced by Coinbase. That said, custom Rust contracts on Solana may or may not be os depending on the dev - same goes for unverified Ethereum contracts though.
