1.) Noted, but don’t you feel that on a longer time horizon, as hardware requirements lower on Solana (with firedancer, for example) and more validators are added, this will reach parity? 
2.) Both ETH and SOL can be used as money in this way, as I see it.
3.) On what level are you referring to open source? Base is built on open source OP stack, but Base in itself is not open sourced by Coinbase. That said, custom Rust contracts on Solana may or may not be os depending on the dev - same goes for unverified Ethereum contracts though.

* Ethereum alignment in the sense of the decentralization ethos. 
* The promotion for ETH as money. 
* And the deep believe that open source public blockchains are a public good.

Solana’s fees are generally lower than those of Base, and at higher scale
