The Wright Brothers David McCullough documents the Wright brothers’ engineering triumph. The book does justice to its story, and the story is every bit as good as one would hope, given the technical and cultural impact of flight. I especially liked the parts about their time in Kitty Hawk, which was more or less wilderness at that point. McCullough also does a great job dispelling the myth that the Wright brothers were simple mechanics who tinkered their way to success. They were serious businessmen, serious engineers, and serious scientists. They also possessed a species of focus and drive that we now associate with successful founders. I never realized how slow the world was to accept the reality of the Wright Flyer. It was such a different world back then. Strongly recommended. This and Bill Bryson’s 1927 book would make a great one-two punch. Five stars for its class.

As one of the largest Farcaster channels, I've got big plans for /books in 2025. We had a great year: strong organic growth w/o financial incentives & a clear value proposition that appeals to non-crypto audiences. With some hard work, we can make /books the highest signal community on the internet for readers.

A year ago, I launched /itookaphoto as a place anyone can cast their best photos. My buddy and talented photographer, @jonathancolton, joined me as the channel's co-host. A cooler name than mod. 🤣 JC went on to build some of the best channels on WC - /nature, /lightchasers and /positivesum. As @dwr.eth put it, to launch a channel you must fan the flames of a small campfire. We did tons of outreach. Degen was blowing up and that helped get photographers interested in casting. Valentine's Day 1mil explosion! Fun contests! Many Rounds helped the fire grow to get us to the top of the channel leaderboard. But MOST importantly, lots of talented photographers - amateurs and professionals - casted and created a welcoming environment to share art. Over time, I launched /itookavideo, /aitookaphoto and /itookaselfie and others! Fun channels without a crypto focus. I am fortunate to have built these channels with all of you! Thanks for sharing your art on the timeline. Excelsior!
