What happens when a jazz trumpet beast inspires and mentors a bunch of his students to form a band? The Blackbyrds and their guts-tickling fusion of jazz and funk.

Pionniers of the genre, their hit "Walking in Rhythm" seduced a broad audience, while their "Rock Creek Park" became a favorite of hip-hop sampling art. It's no surprise if their sound became a classic: the Blackbyrds' harmonies blend jazz's elegance with funk's energy in the classiest gesture.

"The Baby"'s groove rewired a | psychedelic | instinct in my mind, taking me to a dance of words I love to linger on.

Celebrating their 50th anniversary on tour, The Blackbyrds invites the Cully Jazz Festival to the party on April 9th, 2025. Do I need to say how super excited I am about this 😁?
