Cheers to a fun one Montreux🥂 The 58th edition, in a few clouds: ☁️ New stage built on the Lake & surreal sunset backgrounds (or stormy ones on the bad days). ☁️ A return to its iconic casino stage—the one where none other than Ella Fitzegerald, Nina Simone, Miles Davis, or Marvin Gaye (to name a few) performed. ☁️ A fine celebration of pianists & vocal jazz with Diana Krall, Raye (that girl can scat!), and Jamie Cullum. ☁️ A ode to authenticity with Janelle Monae. ☁️ Moments suspended in time with the Yussef Dayes Experiment redention of jazz and Thee Sacred Souls’ one of soul music… ☁️ Poems floating in the sky, looking for clouds to nest in. ☁️ Discover how the music lovers lived this one-of-a-kind edition of the festival, and the poems the performances inspired me in the upcoming vol.3 of | wordstobemusic | ☁️✒️

☁️ Janelle Monáe show at the Montreux Jazz Festival was an authentic ode to empowerment and one’s true self-liberation. ☁️ It all started with a simple truth on the screen: “One day, we all woke up and realized that we are even more than what the world told us that we are.” ☁️ Guess what? RAYE took us flying high above the Montreux Jazz’s ground last night. Swissness at its best, a mind-blowing voice to celebrate RAYE’s 1st show in Switzerland. Fun fact: it was also the first time her granddad, from Appenzell, Switzerland, saw her perform.
