I go to movies for fiction. Reading feels more detailed and a wasted opportunity if I’m not learning something

Movies are great for storytelling. But limited. I’d argue you do learn something new with every novel you read, but I understand your point.

It probably has a lot to do with not reading much while growing up and learning to love reading later in life for intellectual growth.

The thing with fiction is if you find a book that really grabs you then for the rest of your life you’re chasing that high. I think a lot of avid fiction readers caught the bug early.
