re, /degen channel spam: @v has proposed a one-time fee to post in the channel (unless you get banned, in which case you pay again). Prototype would be warps (off-chain points), then transition on-chain to $degen (eventually). Should /degen charge $degen to cast here?

I don’t believe this will have any positive effect on spam and could deter folks who could otherwise come, add positively to the vibe, and become degen-rich one day. It feels like the kind of thing that guarantees a pay to play, rich get richer environment.

I don't think it's the solution unfortunately. If bot operators are willing to pay to use the app, they'll pay to spam the channels.

What about requiring a bounty for each cast, and being subject to losing the bounty if the mods declare it spam? Otherwise it gets returned in a day or so.

The Q for me is: is the resistance this creates helpful? Some bad actors will have the money and it will be profitable enough for them to continue. Alternatively some new community members will not participate because of the barrier to entry.

A paid move? Couldn’t a token be made to do this with no/minimal value? Either that or warps need a better mechanism for purchase and tipping warps gets a sliding scale up to 99 warps. Or $degen replaces warps as the on chain tipping mechanism entirely.

I like it as an option but shouldn't make it required for all channels. Not sure about having to pay again if you get banned though, it's monetary penalty even if it was just an accidental ban or not thought through during a heated argument

I think it's a great idea. A bit unsure about warps because they cost money to buy... But spending $degen to degen makes a lot of sense

It's good at to prevent Spammers but other way I think it will become more strict if you require people to pay before they can cast, the channel will be bored, I think anyone that spam should be banned for weeks or months penalty. Required people to pay anytime they get banned will make people lost interest

Charging a fee because spam is like bank’s KYC’ing because terrorism. It does not solve the problem. It’s monetization.
