back in november, no one on twitter knew about farcaster. by december, ct transplants of two kinds began arriving, drawn like moths to our bright, beaming shitcoins: >profiteers, inspired by $POINTS (then $DEGEN) and the farcaster narrative >tourists, who follow profiteers but have no skin in the game the ct transplant tourists were gone by May/ June. the ct transplant profiteers who haven't left are still churning and will exit by end-of-year. their fortunes ride or die with twitter, whether they realize it or not. markers: >exited farcaster social tokens (all at once or progressively, disillusioned) >out of alignment with native farcaster token economy (no tribe) >pontificated often and loudly on why: [insert reasons here, usual blah blah] >theatrical pivot to alternative crypto scenes (Solana, usually) risk: >ct profiteers are habitually toxic: their farcaster shitcoin profits were less than they wanted (of course) and that makes them bitter and unneighborly. fascinating to watch play out, tho ๐Ÿฟ

Hmmm.. this seems to be a narrow view - I can't find myself in it, being neither a profiteer nor tourist - unaware of the social token phenomena until I arrived.. When I did, I quickly found a "tribe" consisting of the usual suspects - witches, slowcore founders, BaseGirls, meme gods, photographers, cat lovers, extroverted hermits, and more. RE: the "disillusioned" exit basis - I'm sure this has NOTHING to do with tokenomic issues that seem to guarantee shrinking valuations, which are only made worse when founders attempt to turn the "invisible hand" into a fist, exerting various restrictions on allowances and "allowed practices" which nerfed much of the social goods of social tokens while making it hard for users to, well.. USE them. Moxie represents a different tokenomic approach, and personally I haven't written off the older coins which I hold/use, either; there's still potential to get the incentive structures right - but listening to the wisdom of crowds / applying red-teaming is key. Just my 5 $DEGEN

Discovered Farcaster in January and instantly thought it was the new hotspot for those passionate about crypto and onchain innovation. And it is! ๐Ÿค— Felt like breaking new ground. But I've noticed a big divide between Farcaster and X, mostly because of different chain preferences.

I don't even really understand how anyone can find the bird app more enjoyable or profitable than spending time here. After like 3 days, I realized this is the community that will write the future. So much less toxic, direct access to builders/teams, and the vibe, the fucking vibe, man. It's not even comparable.

me, a fucking funny ass tourist, paid/onboarded by Base/coinbase wallet thanks for having me! Iโ€™ll churn if this ends up being like the culture of โ€œctโ€ (I didnโ€™t know what โ€œctโ€ meant before getting on warpcast, my tolerance for that type of โ€œcrypto cultureโ€ could not be lower) ๐Ÿฟ

Have been surprised by some who I've seen falling into this camp that I wouldn't have expected...not a good look and I have the receipts (ie: bookmarks)

And there, thereโ€™s us, artists, who thought we had found a new place better than the shitty Elon shit show, to express ourselves. And have fun in the same time. We are many. And we are still here. ๐Ÿค—

real some "non-crypto" ppl joined and have benefited more from fc (financially and socially) in the last 6 months than some ct ppl who have been at it for yrs now crazy thing is, the "normal" crowd might actually beat ct in getting onto fc, likely due to ct tying their identity to that app, and if this happens the onchain beginners have a real shot at lapping ppl (in terms of understanding the eco) who have been in the space

I followed these users on Twitter for three years. I had very little interaction with them. By interaction, I mean that I had practically no strong relationships like the ones that are built. I tried to go back just to see how it was, but it was the same or worse. I don't know what they're doing over there. I tried to talk to them to find out why they left Farcaster. I didn't get a response. You're right.

And some of us are just shitcasters who show up to vibe and have fun. I don't need the pittance I receive from being here - though it is fun to give/earn - I just like the frens I've made and genuinely have a good time showing up. If/when that changes, I might pull back on my time spent, but it's been 4 1/2 months of showing up daily so far.

I believe I built a good base to start what I planned to build later here. Lots of projects are coming in. Some are taking much time, and some will take even more, but I'm not stopping. I've been planning a lot and made good connections off-chain to maintain long-term goals here. Also, what about the end of the year? Why do you think profiteers will exist then?

I came here way back because I wanted a web3 based social. It felt lonely until my art friends started joining. It was going great for a while but like all socials, it reached the point where they cut the engagement for the average accounts and people are leaving. Shitcoins and points were a big player but what truly was brilliant for art was the frames to mint within the app. Now that Iโ€™ve lost my PB the frames donโ€™t even load automatically. My friends are leaving. Maybe we are the tourists ๐Ÿ’ฉ
