Nothing embodies the attitude of capital to me more than what’s happening at Vail There is no longer a sense that money is earned by providing value. It’s financial engineering and how can I degrade quality while charging the same price. Capital will squeeze both customers and labor as hard as they can. In this case, because the customers are rich, it’s turning into a whole thing now https://x.com/NewtBurp/status/1875708739262804453

in theory this is supposed to be balanced by antitrust and some other stuff. In practice....... well, all I'll add is that the best part of the whole situation is the money used to finance this entire thing is almost entirely pensions and they're frequently used as live hostages whenever anything bad happens to ~PE
