Here is an issue where I actually feel like siding with the SV techbro overlords a bit.

The issue is that many of these statements are totally fine in the "rest of the world" .... once you remember that "rest of the world" is not "Anglosphere + Europe"

Elon Musk's high-conflict style.... ok fine that's a much more culturally specific thing.

Though even still... it's amazing how many are defending advertisers here, the internet vibe of 5 years ago would clearly tell you that sticking the middle finger at ultra-powerful corporations is virtuous!

"don't tell kids to follow their dreams if their dreams are stupid" - would poll very well with non-WEIRD conservative parents pretty much anywhere

criticism of universities - the broader message of "universities should focus on learning, not politics" is similarly popular

In fact, I'd argue these may be opinions the majority of people hold, but they aren't part of the general social media banter or just don't waste time voicing their opinions on the subject.
