Five years ago: cheering each other on, could not imagine any other way Today: lawsuit The safety vs eacc schism should not be underrated as a limit to how much SV tech can actually remain a single tribe. I continue to wish for more balanced ways forward.

It reminds me a bit of the strange phenomenon that a Catholic and a Protestant are prone to disagreeing more vehemently with each other than either with an Atheist. Or maybe I should pose this as a question: Do Sam and Elon now have less affinity with each other than either with Trad Politics as a whole?

Do you agree with the saying that AI is "communist" (as it seems to increase the advantage of centralized entities such as the Big Tech and the Chinese Communist Party) whereas Blockchain is more "libertarian", @vitalik.eth? Rhetorical question?:))

Ah Twitter. Where friends become enemies and hopefully enemies become friends. Imagine if these legends played positive sum games with each other.

How is this different from other schisms resulting in divergent chip architecture (Intel vs. Nvidia) or cloud vs. node compute architecture (Google vs. Apple)?

@Bittensor I believe, is more in line with crypto…. OpenAI does not appear to be. I think Elon has a point with the lawsuit. Litigation could bring light to things that may change people’s minds about OpenAI🤷

the interesting part imo is where elon claims AGI has partially been accomplished and that his investment wasnt used for non profit purposes and instead a for profit product was built with it.

I don't see any cool technology / innovation that requires relying on traditional "gun" like lawsuit to protect his rights. As you see in crypto opposite, traditional entities like SEC resorting to lawsuits against crypto.

Polarity in points of view is healthy. What we need though are better consensus forming tools and processes for bridging these chasms. It's why tools like Pol.is are so interesting.

Elon has a small army of lawyers on staff and is pretty litigious nowadays. Hope this works out for all parties (and society).
