I think there is less contradiction between these than it might seem. We need more "return to cypherpunk roots" on some axes (eg. L2s getting to stage 1, inclusion lists, light clients...) and more UX focus on some axes (most notably, making cross-L2 more seamless).

I think cypherpunk ideals should be the foundational layer supporting the various expressions of L2 personalities. In a way, cypherpunk should almost be an invisible culture, so ineliminable that we just presume them. But certainly they should not be the sole focus, to the expense of others.
