I think there is less contradiction between these than it might seem. We need more "return to cypherpunk roots" on some axes (eg. L2s getting to stage 1, inclusion lists, light clients...) and more UX focus on some axes (most notably, making cross-L2 more seamless).

Interesting opinion! Going back to basics and increasing cultural pluralism can really help in improving UX and scalability, leading to a smoother cross-L2 experience.
