Sleep training seems like the dominant narrative among urban, dual income, parents in the US But it is stressful for both the baby and the caregiver Are there studies that specifically look into cortisol levels in babies before, during, and after sleep training? Does it remain elevated? For how long?

This provides an excellent overview of baby sleep training studies https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20220322-how-sleep-training-affects-babies

I’m def not judging any parent who used cry it out bc sleep is SO important for new parents but my understanding is that while the babies stop crying bc they realize no one is coming, cortisol levels remained elevated… We had success (or enough of it anyway) using the method from “The No Cry Sleep Solution”

All my friends who’ve done it said it took no more than three days, but that those three days were tough for sure.
