Summer of Protocols

I turned 50 yesterday and my Summer of Protocols buddies had a cake and balloons delivered to my hotel room. And the hotel brought me a mango sticky rice “cake” at breakfast with actual candles. This is probably the first time in 35 years I’ve had my birthday officially marked by anyone.

I’ve mellowed out. Used to hate people making a thing of it in the past and still hide my birthday on social sites but these days I’m fine with people wishing me etc.
