I turned 50 yesterday and my Summer of Protocols buddies had a cake and balloons delivered to my hotel room. And the hotel brought me a mango sticky rice “cake” at breakfast with actual candles. This is probably the first time in 35 years I’ve had my birthday officially marked by anyone.

Pleasant :) I’ve mellowed out. Used to hate people making a thing of it in the past and still hide my birthday on social sites but these days I’m fine with people wishing me etc.
