My 2 cents: I think airships will probably not be used for passenger transport on a large scale and only in relatively few use cases where the low speed is acceptable or even desired. Speed usually matters a lot in passenger transport, so it will be hard to compete with airplanes.

However, cargo transport is much less sensitive to speed and airships have a ton of potential there:

Cargo airships are a very exciting direction and are actively being worked on now!
