People fetishize pain because pain is the only kind of proof of your own realness that you can trivially generate without help from others

Narcissism is the delusion that others are more real than you and can be roped into generating proof of your own realness while avoiding pain 

Angst is the realization that others feel no more real than you and there is no pain-free path to feeling real

Absurdism is the realization that this condition is extraordinarily funny

It’s not exactly a false claim, except the ones who talk the loudest about their pain are rarely the ones who experience the most. Pain shuts you up.

Also pain past a point causes derealization. That’s why extreme pain causes psychosis or catatonic. There’s an optimal pain level that makes for max reality.

My life goal is to avoid hitting that level by at least 10m 🤣

there’s also a genre of narcissism that is “I’ve felt more pain than you so I am more real”
