An update on protocol priorities going into 2025. 

We think a lot of interesting things are going to be built onchain soon. Farcaster should be the programmable and credibly neutral social network that brings users, developers and blockchains together. 

But what does this mean tangibly?

Should be finalized by end of year. 

We got a lot of applications so I’m still working through them

I suspect v1 will take the shape of a singleton, open-source server run by us that anyone can integrate with, with some kind of user authentication model.  

The main goal for this phase is interoperability so that other clients can offer direct messaging to their users. 

But it is still early in the design phase and a lot can change.

we’ve been working on a big update for channels - launching first week of Jan 2025.

we’re going to help channels become autonomous communities using Cura. 
Channels will have:
- their own wallet
- leaderboard of top contributors (great launch by warpcast)
- automatically distribute rewards to top contributors
- launch and distribute channel tokens
- channel apps (v2 frames) for landing page, leaderboard and curated content and feeds

big update for channel owners from the cura team!

New credentials system is now live on @anoncast! You can generate anonymous credentials for any balance amount of ANON. The credentials attached to posts are public and visible on anoncast.org.

Once stable, we'll expand to support generating credentials for any token.

Some Friday night alpha. As part of this migration, I rebuilt the zk circuits from scratch so all proofs are being generated directly against onchain state. No more merkle trees. 

This means we can generate credentials for any piece of onchain data, starting with more ERC20 token balances very soon.

The frames.js debugger now supports fully local debugging of v2 frames (including webhooks!)
